Where to Donate Items around Huntsville

Laurie at Passionate Penny Pincher put together a list of places to donate goods in the Huntsville area.  Please note this is not official, just what a few of us have read or heard from other sources.  If you know of more places to donate please leave a comment!

Okay guys, here’s the list of places across North Alabama that are accepting donations for disaster relief at this time.  A HUGE thanks to several bloggers in North Alabama who helped compile this list, including Rocket  City SavingsRocket City Mom, Q-Tipping Mom,Dual Incomes NeededShopping Tips & Tricks, and Coupon Centsation - visit their sites to learn more about donating to those in need as well!  Please know that this list is just a starting point – several of these drop off points were announced on radio or television, but be sure to try to contact specific donation drop off centers before heading out.  (And please know that I’ve only lived in the North Alabama area for a few years, so I’m not exactly familiar with each of the cities listed below!) :)
While donations of food, toiletries and paper products is a wonderful way to give, monetary donations are obviously one of the greatest needs across Alabama right now.  If you’re not here in the North Alabama area this is a wonderful way to give, even if you’re only able to donate a few dollars.  Here are a few places accepting monetary donations:

The Red Cross (also accepting cash donations at the following locations nationwide)
Publix – collecting in-store donations
Regions Bank – collecting donations at branches nationwide
Sweetbay Supermarket collecting in-store donations in Florida
Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. collecting in-store donations in Florida
You can also contact the Red Cross in Huntsville at(256) 536-0084 for where to volunteer.
*Update:  Also go HERE to see how to ship items directly to those in need.  Thanks to Kristin at Couponing to Disney for coordinating that!
