A: Our Publix checkout promise guarantees that if during checkout, the scanned price of an item (excluding alcohol and tobacco products) exceeds the shelf price or advertised price, we will give the customer one of that item free. The remaining items will be charged at the lower price.

This has happened to me before, especially with numerous BOGO inclusions--most recently one specific baby food didn't ring up half price but all the others did. I took the receipt back to customer service and they were supposed to give me one for free and the other at the correct price (the customer service lady did it wrong, but that's what should have happened). :)
